What career opportunities are there with a major in Psychology?


A career in psychology offers many rewards including the opportunity to assist people with personal, family, social, educational, mental health, and career decisions. Some of those majoring in psychology go to graduate school and some end up at the doctoral level.

Psychologists specialize in a host of different areas within the field and identify themselves by many different labels. Here are some samples of those focal areas:

Aviation: Optimizing pilot and flight crew performance.

Clinical/Counseling: Treating disorders and/or facilitating lifestyle changes.

Consumer: Applying research to product and market decisions.

Education: Facilitating effective teaching and learning.

Environment: Creating and/or optimizing environmental designs.

Health: Promoting healthy living and good coping skills.

Human Factors: Optimizing the design of human equipment interfaces.

Legal System: Applying psychological principle to legal issues.

Sports: Helping athletes optimizing their performance.

Workplace Industrial Organization: Improving productivity and the quality of work life.

Careers in Psychology:
